Empowerment could mean many different things but I define it as increasing the strength of a women socially, economically and emotionally. It comes from a women who is in a position to make other females feel good about theirselves not just physically but also spiritually and financially and even at the low points in life, empowerment is part of it in order to uplift and reshape.
How can you empower women day by day?
1. Support each other, don't compete
Competition thrives on insecurities. Seeing other women success without jealousy is the definition of grace. Why hate or feel as though everything is competition if we all can WIN together at the same time? Collaborate. One of the smartest ways to move forward with a plan is to network. You feel as though you're weak in an area? Gather up with people who have strengths to fill those weaknesses.
When women support each other, incredible things happen
2. Compliment others
Remind yourself and other women that they're pretty but strive to say more than that. It is not all about physical attributes.
3. Be an Advocate for Women's Rights and Empowerment
People remain silent on issues that affects
them. One of the best ways to support women is to stand up for rights.
4. Help Each other Reach Their Goals
No matter your age, job position or sexuality, understand that the patriarchy is set to help men succeed but it is important to also support friends, family, people you don't know or higher-up each other by helping them reach their goals.
5. Mentor Each other and young girls around you
Growing up in this society/community makes it tough for girls to grow up in the U.S. Reach out to someone to influence the life of young girls around you to volunteer as a tutor or mentor.
6. Start an Women Empowerment Group
A empowerment group could go by rooting each other on and watching each other grow as a person or beautiful women. This could keep everyone motivated. This could help females realize where they stand, fallen short and how much they've progressed through being apart of a group.
7. Remind women around you to focus on who they really are.
Things are bound to happen whether you like it or not. Focus on what you want in life and who you want to be. Don't allow others to tell you what you can and can not do. Once you shift your focus onto yourself, that is when you realize you are living life. Do everything in silent.
8. Embrace imperfect moments
Through success comes experiences of failure. Without failure, you would have nothing to improve moving forward. Evolvement > Dissolve
"You can't be brave if you've only had wonderful things happen to you." - Mary Tyler Moore
I asked a group of friends what are ways they empower women and what does it mean to them. They all told me:
"By leading by example by being strong no matter what I go through and offer a opening ear to be someone that can talk through ups and downs."
"To me women empowerment is feeling like I do not need a man or anyone to achieve anything I want to in life. The idea that I can do everything on my own in the world. I do not have to follow anyone else standards of life or dedicate my life to having a husband and kids. I empower women by telling them exactly that you don't need anybody."
What do you think of women empowerment? What would you do?
